Eugene Breakfast — Organic Black Tea

My new favorite morning tea.

Been having this for a few years now and it's great both hot and cold. Hot, I can get 2-3 steeps. Cold, I can make fridge iced tea and it's never bitter even after a 24 hour steep.

Great all-around black tea.

My favorite is Eugene Breakfast black tea.

I would like to have the 4 oz package delivered to my address.

In general, I avoid black teas. I think producers assume they'll be oversteeped and sweetened and so they just make substandard tea. As far as I'm concerned, if all there is in the morning is English Breakfast, I'll just as soon skip it.

However, Eugene Breakfast is a remarkable exception to this rule. Reminds me of buckwheat honey: sweet and earthy. Hard to screw up steeping. Oversteeped the tannin content is low enough that it's still drinkable, plus it makes great iced tea. Understeeped and that big flavor is still there, albeit more subtly.

I often brew a pot in the morning and leave a second steep until I come home at the end of the day. That leaves me with a delicious cold tea to relax to.

Did you look at the price on this thing, too? It's almost criminally low. You almost can't afford to not buy it.

Best of all, it's readily available. In Eugene, nearly every store has a packaged form and many even have bulk available.

J-Tea's draw for me is most certainly the high end oolongs, ancient pu-erhs and the like, but this unassuming tea is right up there with all my other favorites. If you've had bad experiences with black tea, I think this will be the one to change your mind.

One of the things I missed most when leaving Eugene was the access to J-Tea. Fortunately I can keep a stock of Eugene Breakfast by ordering on-line. I have been drinking and enjoying EB for more than a decade.

I've tried a whole bunch of similar-ish breakfast teas and there just isn't a better one for the price. Bold and malty and incredibly delicious. I steep it for 5 minutes and hit it with a glug of soymilk.

This tea is so delicious and light for a breakfast tea. I get citrus notes and a bit of Earl Gray notes on the finish. It is lovely on its own or with a splash of oat milk.

I drink EB every morning (with milk) and this is hands-down my favorite of all the EBs that I have.

This tea is a straightforward, tasty, drinkable tea.
