Black Tea

Black Tea

Black tea is bold, smooth, and full of energy. It’s a great way to start your day—with or without milk—and it’s one of the most widely enjoyed styles of tea in the world.

The name “black tea” comes from the color of the leaves, but in China it’s actually called red tea (hong cha), because the brew itself is a rich reddish-brown. It’s fully oxidized, which gives it that deep, strong flavor.

In the West, black tea became popular because it holds up well in travel and storage. That’s one reason it became the main tea for export—especially during the British colonial trade.
