Selecting Teas for the Eugene Tea Festival: A Journey of Flavor and Discovery
It is time to select the teas that we will be featuring at the Eugene Tea Festival. When making this selection, I want to pick some teas that will really stand out. I am so happy that we have a large pool of high quality tea to select from. Having lived in Taiwan for six years and because I have been selling Taiwanese tea for over twenty years, this is the tea producing region we will be focusing on.
This year we will be demonstrating with Buttercup Oolong, Honey Gold Oolong, Golden Dragon, and Cooked Beauty Puer. Three of the teas are Taiwanese Oolongs and one of them is a puer tea.
It is important to us to be able to craft an experience that will impress even the most discerning of tea connoisseurs as well as represent the full range of tea that is Oolong. The selection criteria included quality, uniqueness, and the wow factor. We really aim to impress the tea festival attendees.
Kissed by the Dragon is back!
This is an exciting event as we will be teaching a class on tea brewing titled “Kissed by the Dragon”. The talk teaches people the how and why of tea cupping. It provides people with the skills to become tea evaluation experts and it takes them to the next step into the realm of Gong Fu Cha. We delve into the art and the science of tea brewing and tea evaluation. Learning how to evaluate tea makes you a better tea brewer and becoming a better tea brewer makes you better at evaluating tea. The Eugene version of this talk is already filled up but there will be another one in Portland at Tea Fest PDX July 13th, 2024. The talk is recommended for seasoned connoisseurs or curious newcomers.
In addition to our workshop, we’re thrilled to unveil our exclusive “Kissed by the Dragon” T-shirts. The art for the shirts was created by Claire Christy-Tirado, former J-TEA tearoom host. We are always happy to work with Claire on graphic related projects. She currently resides in Portland and has art shows from time to time. Check out her website here: https://www.claireeaster.com/
This shirt is already available online and will soon be available at our shop, and at the tea festival. These shirts are the perfect memento to commemorate your tea-filled adventures.
