Ruby Black – Taiwan Black Tea
Organically grown from the Ruby 18 cultivar (TRES No. 18), a cross between Taiwan’s indigenous mountain tea (Camellia formosensis) and Assam, this black tea showcases the best of both lineages. Crafted by a fourth-generation tea farmer, it embodies the smooth, rich elegance that defines Taiwan’s finest black teas.
This batch is particularly striking—it verges on floral, but isn’t floral; verges on vegetal, but isn’t vegetal. It lives beautifully in the space between. Katie, who usually isn’t a fan of black tea, loves this one. It’s as if cream has already been added—silky, comforting, and endlessly drinkable.

Nose: Corn silk, cherry blossom, muscovado
Taste: Dried orange, cream, honey, oaked red wine, berry fruit leather
Finish: Long, syrupy in the back of the throat, smooth, low tannin, low acid, velvety texture
